CREA.png

Category: Workforce Development, Renewable Energy

The installation and maintenance of wind turbine elevators in Ontario are governed by strict regulations inconsistent with standards in other Canadian provinces and countries. Purpose Co was contracted to identify the feasibility and options for Canadian Renewable Energy Association to explore diversified training options for wind turbine lift repair and maintenance in Ontario.

Purpose Co consulted with industry stakeholders to identify and understand the wind energy sector's experiences, needs, and challenges with repairing and maintaining wind turbine elevators in Ontario. Additionally, Purpose Co conducted a review of existing regulations and training programs to compare and contrast standards across jurisdictions and define the skills and responsibilities needed to do the work. The outcomes of the research will be used to validate the need for and identify potential opportunities to improve the current system for local regulatory bodies to review and enact.
