Healthcare Workforce Development Opportunity Analysis + Feasibility Plan

Purpose Co conducted a feasibility assessment and opportunity analysis for a Healthcare Labour Union to identify options in the development of Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to aid in addressing the labor shortage in Ontario, as well to identify opportunities, capacity and operational needs to implement potential solutions.
Purpose Co engaged stakeholders and key informants through interviews, focus groups, and surveys. The research looked at issues related to training needs and interests, wages, job quality and opportunities to enhance industry talent attraction and retention. Additionally, Purpose Co reviewed existing regulations and training programs to compare and contrast standards across jurisdictions and define the skills and responsibilities needed to do the work.
The research outcomes were used to identify partnership opportunities for the union, a PSW recruitment and training strategy, and an incumbent worker skill development strategy.
